Problem
NT-B1-M11-P004 Difference of Squares
#4
★☆☆☆☆ Level 1 of 5
Factor \(x^2-y^2\) and explain when it is useful.
Use the difference of squares formula.
We have \(x^2-y^2=(x-y)(x+y)\). This is useful when an equation fixes a difference of squares: then the problem reduces to factor pairs.
Technical bridge to Diophantine problems.
